One thing which could be learned from 10 years of Kramtoad is: Anonymity was NOT helpful. Everytime there was a problem in the 8 years Mr. Kramtoad ran it himself, or in the two years with two other admins running it, there was no where to turn to alert to problems, because all 3 preferred to be totally anonymous. After 10 years Mr. Kramtoad published a (small) picture of himself, which was awesome to put a face to the person. Practically, however, anonymity put a big dent into the reliability and the fun of the users, when something had gone wrong, and nobody was taking care of it, or could be alerted to. The most recent thing is all the spam in the last Kramtoad forum, which also contributed in a big way to Mr. Kramtoad’s decision to shut it down. Certainly in the age of Internet trolls and other not-so-nice people bullying online, one has to walk a fine privacy line between showing responsibility for the site and avoid said nasties ... We want to do things differently. As we (Stukka & Cooper) took the initiative and won Mr. Kramtoad’s support, we own up to it. Others have shown an interest in - and actually deliver - to help (publicly and privately) and offered ideas, help, and also moral support.
